Farmer City Monster
It was the summer of 1970 when the Farmer City Monster made multiple appearances around town. Although it did not appear to be aggressive, the Monster had glowing eyes, and looked like something straight out of a horror film. Teens on a camp-out supposedly made the first report on July 9. The Farmer City monster later returned, appearing at a lover’s lane of sorts. Because most sightings were made by teens, the claims were easily dismissed, that is until one of the subsequent eyewitnesses included a local police officer. Adults in or near Heyworth, Clinton, and Waynesville also reported sightings in the coming months. Despite numerous claims, the monster vanished into legend just as quickly as it appeared. Come walk the trail on a guided tour and hear all about the story, fairy-tale or frightening event? You decide for yourself.
